Butterfly release @ Rocking Horse Nursery

Today seen the Searchers release their 4 butterflies after observing them transform from caterpillars to chrysalis to butterflies in their room. Of course there was only one place that the children wanted to release the butterflies to and that was Figgate Park. The children watched their butterflies fly off in the beautiful park.

Fun in the sun @ Rocking Horse Nursery

Last week seen the whole nursery out in force to enjoy the sun. We had the garden doors open at 7.30am in the Explorers (the sand and water play was out, crates were being used for climbing/balancing) and the Searchers had their last block of enjoy-a-ball (more sessions will be arranged).

Butterflies @ Rocking Horse Nursery

Yesterday the Investigators let their butterflies go in the Figgate Park. From the caterpillars arriving, the investigators observed the changes closely from little caterpillars, to chrysalis, to emerging butterflies and then beautiful butterflies ready to be set free. What a beautiful sight, watching the butterflies fly off in our favourite park.

Gorgie Farm @ Rocking horse nursery.

Last Thursday the Searchers took a trip to Gorgie Farm due to the children’s recent interest in animals. While we were there we seen some pigs, sheep, lambs, cows and chickens. When we returned to nursery we transformed the water tray into a mini safari.

Outer Space @ Rocking Horse Nursery

This month the Investigators asked to learn about ‘space’. We created a space station in the role play area, complete with space suits, walkie-talkies and a control panel. The children are also being very creative with junk modelling, creating moon landers and rovers.
