Borrow a Bag

At nursery, we have many bags your family can borrow to enjoy at home. Staff may let you know what your child has been enjoying at nursery or suggest what kind of bag might help their developmental interests.

Story Sacks

  • We have a variety of story sacks on offer in the Explorers room and in the hallway opposite the office. Inside is a story with some resources that relate to it.

Activity Bags

  • Our activity bags are in the hallway opposite the office. Inside are activities to do at home, for example puzzles and games.

Schema Bags

  • Schemas are patterns of repeated behaviour that children use to explore and learn about the world around them. It’s how they make sense of things as they grow and develop.

For example, a child who loves to drop things from high places may be exploring a trajectory schema — learning about how things move through the air. Another child who enjoys lining up toys might be exploring a positioning schema.

  • There is a bag for each Schema in the Explorers small side and inside is some information relating to the Schema it supports as well as some supporting resources to explore with. There is also a jotter inside to record any feedback on the use of the bag and we greatly encourage parents to share pictures and feedback to the learning journals.

We also have a nursery library in the hallway for the children to borrow from and there is one on the Explorers shelf in their small side with books suitable for under 2’s.

We have recently added adult/older children books to the top of the library in the hallway for other members of your family to enjoy too.
