Over the month of March, the preschool children have been eagerly learning about spring. Within learning about spring, the children built a little green house for us to grow our lovely fruit and vegetables in. At the moment it is full of lovely herbs that the Beanies planted for us. The children have also planted rhubarb, carrots and strawberries in our recycled tyres and crates.

We have been learning about life cycles and discussed that baby farm animals are born in the spring, because of this the preschool children took a little trip to Gorgie Farm. Here we saw the piglets, lambs and kids, playing in the sun. We also had great fun milking the pretend cow at the play park and playing on the tractors. We are currently waiting on our caterpillar’s arriving so that we can care for them and watch them at the different stages of their life cycle.

The children have also been really excited with their root view farm, we planted carrot, onion and radish seeds in the soil are we are closely watching the progress of the stems and roots daily.
