The Early Years room recently enjoyed a trip to Dynamic Earth as part of our ‘Winter’ focus within the room.
Firstly we were lead into a special room where one of the ladies who worked there told us a story of a little Polar Bear. The Story was told with the use of visual aids and puppets. The story introduced us to what life is like in the Arctic and what kinds of animals you may meet there. We were then taken on a time travelling journey through history where we experienced the big bang, walked with dinosaurs, screamed as we felt the tremors beneath our feet of the exploding volcanoes and last but by no means least we visited the ice age!! This was something we were particularly interested and excited to see as we have been discussing ice along with the varying forms of water. Can you believe there was a massive block of ice in the room? The paw prints indented in the ice had us guessing what kind of arctic animal may of been there before us…
We thoroughly enjoyed learning about the past, which is contained within the ‘social’ area of the Curriculum. Science and Literacy were also covered over this trip.
