During the month of January, the preschool children have been learning all about Robert Burns. This topic then turned into learning about Scotland. We have visited The National Museum of Scotland and discovered Scottish history and artefacts. A main part of learning about Robert Burns has been reading Scottish books such as Fairy tales in Scots, Katie Morag, Hairy Maclary, and of course The Gruffalo in Scots. The children enjoyed learning some Scottish words such as moose (mouse), tod (fox), hoolet (owl), widd (wood) and daunder (walk). Sometimes we found the words very funny. The children then got creative with the paints and made there very own saltire flags, and decided to do some pattern work and made tartan mats from paper.
