Over the last few weeks the Beanies have been interested in different textures, exploring these with both their mouths and their hands, so we provided lots of opportunities for them to be more involved and get messy! We provided a variety of different textures for the children to explore. These included paint, pasta, playdough, ice, […]
Today at Rocking Horse Nursery, the children focused on Guy Fawkes Night. We painted a bonfire and fireworks on our preschool window, created symmetrical fire work pictures and discussed firework safety and the Guy Fawkes story.
Later in the day, the preschool and toddler children enjoyed having a sparkler once it got dark outside. To ensure their safety, the children wore a glove and we put the sparkler’s handle though a paper cup.
The children made different shapes with the sparklers, a circle was the favourite. Whilst in the garden we listened quietly for fireworks and watched the sky light up with lots of beautiful colours.
We at Seabeach hope you all had a great Halloween, I know we certainly had some frightful fun over the week, culminating in our ‘weeny’ party on Thursday… more on that later though! Today as part of our Autumn topic, the preschool children went to explore autumn at the Jack Kane Centre. We explored the leaves that were on the ground and even found the last of the fallen conkers! We came to the conclusion that all the squirrels have eaten the rest. We took a little walk […]
Today as part of our eco-schools, the preschool children met Russel and Natalia (Park Rangers) at the Figgate Park as a result of Gillian getting in contact to recieve further information about our community and how we can help the environment and wildlife. Russel and Natalia spoke to us about litter, and the litter problems […]
The preschool children have been helping to keep our garden clean by sorting out the leaves and the rubbish. We sorted the leaves into one pile and the rubbish into another before putting the rubbish in the bin and the leaves into the nursery compost bin .
The toddlers at Rocking Horse have been out and about spotting the signs of Autumn over the last few weeks. Our adventures have included the local area, the figgy park, the nursery grounds and rosefield park but also further a field with outings to Newhailes, The Botanic Gardens and Princes Street gardens! These outings have […]
Over the past few weeks the little guys have been showing a massive interest in all things messy. This was clear after our shaving foam shenanigans so we decided to run with it! Since then, the babies have explored gluck. (One of my personal favourites!) And what a hoot that was. I tell ya these […]
