Down at Seabeach we got right into the Chinese festive spirit.
As well as dressing up in Chinese inspired clothes from our role play area we explored the story of ‘Nian’. He was a fearsome new year beast who would try and eat the townspeople of China if they did not hide. The only way he could be tamed was by loud noises and the colour red, which he was scared of… hence the fireworks and red decorations present at Chinese New Year! (everyday is a school day guys)
Today for snack we prepared and cooked a Chinese stir fry which we enjoyed with some prawn crackers. This went down a storm!
These activities fall within the Health and Wellbeing, Religious and Moral, Technologies, Social and Literacy brackets within the Curriculum for Excellence and above all else was good, cultural fun.
