The children in the Beanie Room have been interested in the birds and squirrels that have been visiting our garden. A few of us took a trip to Cameron Toll to buy some bird seed and lard to make bird cakes. We travelled on the bus and Dean’s Nana very kindly helped us – Thank you Kate!
Today the Preschool children took a trip to the National Museum of Scotland. The children were interested in clocks and time so we visited The Millennium Clock Tower, and watched the clock chime.
The children from the Beanies and Toddlers enjoyed a refreshing and Wintery walk to the Figgate Park this morning to explore the snow. The children were running, stamping, jumping and trying to catch the snow with their tongues and their hands.
The Beanies have been using recycled milk cartons and storage tubs to explore in the water tray. They have been pouring and transporting water from the milk cartons and tubs and been twisting the lids on and shaking the water.
The children in The Beanie Room were very interested in using the hairbrushes and rollers we had in our Heuristic Area, so we added some more along with some hairdressing role play items. As you can see, this has proved very popular with the children!

There have been lots of festive activities going on at Rocking Horse this week. Christmas parties have been enjoyed by the Beanies and Toddlers with dancing, singing, party games and a special visit from Santa!

Today at Rocking Horse Jo from Changeworks visited the toddles and preschool to do a Three R’s workshop. The children took turns separating the different materials and placing them in the correct recycling box. We then reused toilet roll tubes and made “waste watcher” binoculars.
